Solenoids Construction Readiness Reviews

The Mu2e project received CD-3c approval from the DOE on July 14, 2016, allowing the project to start construction of the Tracker subsystem components. Before initiating fabrication, a Construction Readiness Review is required to confirm the soundness and completeness of the design, the procurement and quality assurance plans as well as the coherence of all interfaces with respect to neighboring sub-detectors. Peer reviews of the key elemenents of the project in advance of approval to construct is part of this process.

The solenoids perform several critical functions for the Mu2e experiment. Magnetic fields generated from these magnets are used to efficiently collect and transport muons from the production target to the muon stopping target while minimizing the transmission of other particles.
